Our club was formed in 1980 by founding Members, Mel Sommers and John Battle, and for the first three years met every second Tuesday night.
Over the years we met at various clubs; Waratah-Mayfield RSL being the first. Our first festival was held that same year with a young Wayne Horsburgh being our first guest artist.
We have been at Club Macquarie for the past twenty years. They have seen the highs and the lows with our club, but have always stuck by us. On some of our Tuesday nights it was not uncommon to have as many as twenty-five performers on the on the night; and an appreciative audience in excess of one hundred music fans to practice and perform their songs for them.
Over the years hundreds of young and not so young artist have used our nights to further their musical education. Our latest young performer, who started at our club at eleven years of age, was Catherine Britt. Another young lass although not a club regular, still performed with great distinction at our festivals, was last year's Star Maker Kirsty Lee Ackers.
Our club meets every Tuesday night at Club Macquarie, and we are always looking for the next performer who wants a chance to make it to the next level; or maybe that someone who would like to just have the chance to perform their songs in front of an audience.
